Your Guide to Creating Reels

By now we all know about Instagram Reels right? It’s the Metaverse's response to Tik Tok. Youtube has also incorporated vertical videos on their platform called, “Shorts”. I think it’s safe to say vertical video is not going away any time soon.

So - that means it’s time to start creating Reels!

Utilizing Instagram Reels is a great way to expand your reach on Instagram, and it can be really fun! Some of the best Reels include lip-synching, movement, collages of photos or aesthetically pleasing videos with voiceovers.

The creative potential with Reels is truly unlimited.

General Tips:

→ Be patient. Creating reels can be time-consuming, especially when you’re filming a few takes or trimming multiple videos from your camera roll.

→ Keep your phone charged. If your phone is on low battery, editing a reel will cause the video to lag and features to be slow to load.

→ Practice makes perfect. If you’re working to film clips that have a cool transition, it may take a few times to get the timing right.

→ Remember to have fun with it! Reels are supposed to be a moving visual creative outlet. If you find yourself getting aggravated, take a break and try again later!

Tips For Creating Your First Reel:

Using videos you have already filmed is one of the most common ways to create reels.

→ You can use snippets of one video or add snippets of multiple videos.

→ Trim the video to select the section of the video you wish to add.

→ Add music or choose from a sound you saved from a previous reel.

→ Add text to your video and set the duration.

→ Pick a cover image.

→ Write a caption.

→ Add your hashtags.

→ Post, share & engage!

Tips For Creating Your First Lip Sync Reel:

→ Pull up the audio you want to use, replay it over a few times, and practice lip-syncing to get the hang of the timing and words.

→ Write out the script on a note in front of you if you need.

→ Film the reel in shorter snippets.

→ Creating a lip sync reel is easier done within the app as the audio plays while recording.

Oh! Also - try to use trending sounds to gain more reach. Want a post all about those? Let us know! Need help, inspiration, or strategy? Send me a DM on Instagram! or Contact us now!
